Isabelle Gauvreau’s prevailing objective is to explore the thematic of the female body— and judging by the quality of her achievements over the last six years, it is a field best suited to her work. Within Gauvreau’s composition, the silhouette of the woman is imprinted with an exquisite sensuality. All of her oeuvres are created through mixed paper techniques, each imbedded with a series of reoccurring, learnedly
harmonized motifs—tree leaves, golden foliage, fine paper, cursive writing, spirals—that contribute to her unique theme. Gauvreau’s deliberate decision to hide her subject’s faces imparts on the female silhouette a universal dimension. Commenting on her own artistic approach,Gauvreau gladly explains this questioning of the female condition reflects a desire to further enrich the image of the woman. She equally refers to a thinking that pursues the body not as regular phenomenon, but rather a space of origin relying on the entire power human thought and sensibility.

Isabelle Gauvreau was born in Ottawa and lives in Gatineau. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts from the University of Ottawa and, since 2005, has participated in diverse exhibitions across Quebec and Ontario. In 2009, her work was presented as part of a group exhibition at the Duolun Museum of Modern Art in Shanghai, China.
